STORRS, Conn. – Junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) and freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) each recorded their fourth double-double of the season, but the Bearcats had four players post double-digit kills as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Binghamton, 3-1, on Saturday morning at the Connecticut Invitational at Gampel Pavilion by scores of 25-22, 15-25, 25-19 and 25-20. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-3 overall, while the Bearcats improve to 2-5 overall.
Lynch tallied her 31st career double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs. She now has 882 career kills which are already third all-time in school history. Stokes had a strong match as she led the team with 34 assists and 16 digs. Junior Callie Black (Fallon, Nev.) posted 10 kills and had a team-best .556 hitting percentage, while senior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) led the Crusaders with four blocks. Along with Stokes and Lynch, junior Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) and freshman Heather Roberts (San Jose, Calif.) also tallied double-digit digs. Watters recorded 15 and Roberts earned 11.
The Bearcats were led by Amanda Dettmann who recorded a double-double with 45 assists and 11 digs. Kristin Hovie tallied 13 kills, while Grace Vickers, Iva Partaleva and Alex Roland each posted 11 kills. Roland was also impressive with 10 blocks.
The Crusaders conclude action at the Connecticut Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 3, when they meet Howard (5:00 p.m.).
