WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hawks had three players with double-digit kills as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Hartford, 3-0, on Wednesday night by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-21. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-4 overall, while the Hawks improve to 3-5 overall. Junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) led the Crusaders with eight kills as she now has 903 for her career ranking her third all-time in school history.
Freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) posted 16 assists and six digs, while junior Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) also tallied six digs. Sophomore Alex Aycock (Jonesboro, Ark.) recorded five kills.
The Hawks were led by Jackie Tamburri who had a double-double with 37 assists and 12 digs. Sareeta Nethersole recorded 12 kills, while Kami Nethersole and Lindsay Makowicki each tallied 10 kills.
The Crusaders return to action when they compete at the Bryant Invitational in Smithfield, R.I., on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10. On Friday, Holy Cross will play Harvard (6:00 p.m.), while on Saturday the Crusaders will meet Maryland-Eastern Shore (10:00 a.m.) and tournament host Bryant (7:00 p.m.).
