SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) recorded her sixth double-double of the season and the 33rd of her career but the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Harvard, 3-0, on Friday night by scores of 25-22, 25-12 and 25-20, at the Bryant Invitational. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-5 overall, while the Crimson improve to 3-1 overall.
Lynch led the Crusaders with 13 kills, while she also earned 10 digs. Junior Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) posted a team-best 16 digs, while freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) posted 14 assists. Sophomore Alex Aycock (Jonesboro, Ark.) was also solid defensively with nine digs.
Harvard was led by Teresa Skelly who tallied 11 kills and Beth Kinsella who posted 35 assists. Christine Wu and Natalie Doyle each recorded 13 digs, while Kristen Casey made three blocks.
The Crusaders continue action at the Bryant Invitational in Smithfield, R.I., on Saturday, Sept. 10, when they meet Maryland-Eastern Shore (10:00 a.m.) and tournament host Bryant (7:00 p.m.).
