CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) recorded 12 kills and senior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) posted 11, but the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Harvard, 3-0, on Friday night at the Harvard Invitational by scores of 25-12, 25-22 and 25-17 at Malkin Athletic Center. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-8 overall, while the Crimson improve to 6-2 overall.
Lynch tallied her 10th double-double of the season and 37th of her career as she also earned 11 digs, while Colpoys posted a strong .471 hitting percentage. Sophomore Christiana Blakeslee (Ashtabula, Ohio) and freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) each recorded 16 assists, while Blakeslee led the team with two aces. Freshman Alicia Swearingen (Springdale, Ark.) led the Crusaders with three blocks and also posted nine digs. Junior Callie Black (Fallon, Nev.) recorded six kills with a .400 hitting percentage and two blocks.
Harvard was led by Kristen Casey and Erin Cooney who each recorded 11 kills. Beth Kinsella posted 40 assists.
The Crusaders continue play at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17. Holy Cross will meet Patriot League opponent Navy (10:00 a.m.) in a non-conference contest and Northeastern (4:00 p.m.).
