CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Midshipmen had two players record double-doubles as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Patriot League opponent Navy, 3-1, in a non-conference match on Saturday morning at the Harvard Invitational by scores of 25-20, 27-29, 25-16 and 25-23 at Malkin Athletic Center. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-9 overall, while the Midshipmen improve to 4-9 overall.
Senior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) posted a strong match as she tallied a season-best 14 kills for a .462 hitting percentage with only two errors on 26 attempts. Junior Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) led the Crusaders with 16 digs. Freshman Heather Roberts (San Jose, Calif.) had a solid match with eight kills and 15 digs, while junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) tallied eight kills. Sophomore Christiana Blakeslee (Ashtabula, Ohio) posted a career-best 31 assists and freshman Mary-Kate Short (Lighthouse Point, Fla.) led the team with four blocks.
Navy was led by Carolyn Ewert who tallied 16 kills and 12 digs, while Katie Bray posted 15 kills and 12 digs. Shelby Mass recorded 51 assists. Holly Berger posted 17 digs.
The Crusaders conclude play at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday when they take on Northeastern at 4:00 p.m.
