Volleyball Takes On CCSU & Then Begins Patriot League Schedule

- The Holy Cross volleyball team, which went 0-4 last week and are 4-10 overall, will play three matches this week, including its first two Patriot League matches of the season. On Wednesday, Sept. 21, the Crusaders will play at Central Connecticut at 7:00 p.m. The Crusaders defeated CCSU earlier this season by a 3-0 score at the Holy Cross Field House as part of the Beanpot Classic on Aug. 26. Central Connecticut is 7-5 overall. Holy Cross will then start conference competition with a match at Lafayette on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7:00 p.m. and a contest at Lehigh on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4:00 p.m. Both the Leopards and the Mountain Hawks are also 7-5 this season.
- Last year the Crusaders started off the Patriot League season 1-0 for the first time in program history when they defeated Lafayette, 3-0, in Worcester on Sept. 24. The Crusaders also won at Lafayette last season with a 3-1 victory on Oct. 23. Holy Cross has lost six straight to Lehigh with a 3-0 victory on Nov. 3, 2007, being its last win over the Mountain Hawks. Last year, the Crusaders went 4-10 in the Patriot League.
- Junior Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) earned Harvard Invitational All-Tournament team accolades. She tallied 44 kills and 34 digs over the three matches. This is Lynch's fifth regular season All-Tournament honor. Lynch has recorded a double-double in 10 of the 14 matches this season. She now has 37 career double-doubles. Lynch has 978 career kills which are already third all-time in school history.
- Holy Cross is third in the Patriot League with 1.77 blocks per set and with 15.29 digs per set. Lynch is tied for first in the conference with 3.59 kills per set, while senior Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) is third with a .293 hitting percentage. Colpoys is also third in blocks per set (0.91) and junior Callie Black (Fallon, Nev.) is fifth (0.83). Junior Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) is ranked fourth in the league with 4.15 digs per set, freshman Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) is seventh in assists per set with 7.32 and Lynch is ninth in aces per set with 0.30.
