Megan Lynch Earns All-Patriot League Honors

Megan Lynch

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior volleyball player Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) has earned 2011 second team All-Patriot League accolades. This is the third time that Lynch has received this honor as she was also on the second team as a sophomore and freshman. She is the second Crusader to ever earn All-League accolades three times as Christine Strawson also received second team honors from 2005-2007.

Lynch leads the Patriot League with 405 kills and 3.93 kills per set. Her 405 kills are second all-time at the school behind her own record of 442 in 2010. She is the only player in program history to record over 400 kills in a season. She is ranked 53rd in the nation in kills per set. Lynch is also 10th in the conference with 2.89 digs per set as she ranked second on the team with 298 digs. She led the team with a career-best 31 aces as her 0.30 aces per set are tied for the ninth in the league. Lynch recorded 20 double-doubles on the season and has 47 for her career.

Lynch was recently named the Molten Patriot League Player of the Week on Nov. 14. She was the first Crusader to win this award since the 2004 season. Her 34 kills versus Bryant on Oct. 5 are the third most in Division I in the nation this season. Also this season, Lynch was named the Bryant Invitational MVP on Sept. 10. She has been selected to five regular season All-Tournament teams in her career. On Aug. 29, she was named the AT&T Crusader of the Week for the third time in her career.

Lynch is second all-time in school history with 1,218 career kills and is seventh with 919 career digs. She is just one of two players in program history to record over 1,000 kills and 900 digs.

Holy Cross finished the 2011 season with a 10-21 overall record (6-8 Patriot League). The Crusaders concluded the season with three straight Patriot League victories. This was the first time they had won three straight league matches since winning four in row in the 2000 season. The Crusaders' six Patriot League wins tie their most ever as they went 6-8 in 2004 and 6-6 in 2000. Holy Cross' fifth place finish in the league is its best since placing fifth in 2004.
