Volleyball Drops Match To Army, 3-0

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Ariana Mankus posted a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs for the Black Knights as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Army, 3-0, at Gillis Field House in Patriot League action on Saturday evening by scores of 25-13, 25-6 and 25-9. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-18 overall (1-4 PL), while the Black Knights improve to 12-6 overall (4-1 PL).

Senior captain Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) led the Crusaders with five kills and six digs. Senior Callie Black (Fallon, Nev.) posted a team-best three blocks.

The Black Knights tallied a .407 hitting percentage for the match including a .667 hitting percentage by Mankus. Mary Vaccaro posted 26 assists and Mankus tallied a team-best three blocks.

With Army leading 12-10 in the first set, the Black Knights won 13 of the last 16 points to earn a 25-13 victory. The Black Knights won the second set by a 25-6 score as Army posted a .481 hitting percentage. Margaux Jarka tallied five kills and a .833 hitting percentage. The Black Knights took the third, 25-9, as Army posted a .500 hitting percentage. Mankus led the team with six kills.

The Crusaders return to action on Monday, Oct. 8 when they travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to play Florida Atlantic at 6:30 p.m. at FAU Arena.
