WORCESTER, Mass. – Amanda Clark posted 12 kills for the Mountain Hawks as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Lehigh, 3-0, in Patriot League action at the Holy Cross Field House on Saturday afternoon by scores of 25-18, 25-11 and 25-15. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-21 overall (1-6 PL), while the Mountain Hawks improve to 7-10 overall (4-3 PL).
Senior captain Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) led the Crusaders with 11 digs, while sophomore Julia Gould (Ridgewood, N.J.) had nine. Sophomore Hannah Grace Stokes (Atlanta, Ga.) tallied 17 assists and five kills. Senior captain Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) also had five kills.
Taylor Poole was also strong for the Mountain Hawks with 11 kills. Dana Raber led the team with 23 assists and Rachel Charles posted a team-best 13 digs. Ana Vrhel tallied a team-best six blocks.
With the Mountain Hawks leading 18-17 in the first set, Lehigh then won seven of the next eight points for the 25-18 victory. Poole led the way for the Mountain Hawks with five kills. Lehigh won the second set by a 25-11 score as Clark tallied four kills. Poole was strong again for Lehigh in the third set as she posted six kills to lead the Mountain Hawks to the 25-15 third-set win.
The Crusaders return to action when they take on Patriot League opponents American and Navy at the Holy Cross Field House on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20. The Crusaders will be holding a "Pink for a Purpose" event at both matches to support breast cancer awareness. On Friday, the Crusaders will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday they will meet the Mids at 4:00 p.m. Both matches can be viewed on Crusader Vision.
