"Alicia and Mary-Kate will do a great job leading our team," said Holy Cross head coach Erin Cady. "They are both members of our Leadership Academy here at Holy Cross. They are enthusiastic and highly committed to our program and team!"
Short played in 26 matches last season with 24 starts. She was second on the team with a career-best 49 blocks and was third with a career-best 15 aces. She also posted a career-best 68 kills. Short won the team's 2012 Raising the Bar Award which is given to the player that has shown the most improvement in the weight room. She is a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy.
Swearingen, who played the first 10 matches and then missed the remaining of the 2012 season due to an injury, tallied 73 kills and 17 blocks. Her 2.21 kills per set ranked second on the team and her 0.52 blocks per set were third. As a freshman, she ranked third on the team in kills (126), fourth in blocks (29) and digs (165), and fifth in aces (19). For her career, she has 199 kills, 46 blocks and 197 digs. She is also a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy.
