Patriot League Volleyball Preseason Poll Announced

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross volleyball team was picked eighth in the 2013 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. American was picked to finish first as it received eight first place votes and 119 total points. Army had 112 total points and five first-place votes as it was picked to finish second, followed by defending regular season and tournament champion Colgate who received 111 total points and five first place votes. Lehigh (78 total points) placed fourth, Navy (76 total points) finished fifth, Loyola (Md.) (52 total points) placed sixth, Bucknell (50 total points) was seventh, Holy Cross (28 total points) was eighth and Lafayette (22 points) was ninth. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the Patriot League Tournament. Margaux Jarka of Army was named the Preseason Player of the Year.

The Crusaders begin the season hosting the Crusader Classic on Aug. 30-31 where they will face off against Sacred Heart (Aug. 30), Stony Brook (Aug. 31) and Manhattan (Aug. 31).
