WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman volleyball player Emily Popp (Clarkston, Mich.) has been named the Patriot League Molten Rookie of the Week for her performances versus Loyola (Md.) and American. She posted 38 digs and 5.43 digs per set on the week. This is Popp's first career Patriot League weekly honor. Popp is only the third Crusader to ever earn Patriot League Rookie of the Week accolades. Michelle Leahy won the award on Oct. 8, 2001 and Megan Lynch won it on Sept. 28, 2009 and Nov. 9, 2009.
Popp tallied 26 digs and averaged an outstanding 6.50 digs per set on Nov. 8 in the 3-1 loss to Loyola (Md.), while she posted 12 digs on Nov. 9 in the 3-0 loss to American. Popp has posted double-digit digs 22 times this season. Her 4.58 digs per set this year are currently ranked first all-time for a season in program history, while her 403 digs are fifth all-time.
The Crusaders return to action on Friday, Nov. 15, when they play Patriot League opponent Lafayette in Easton, Pa., at 5:00 p.m.
