Volleyball Announces 2014 Schedule
WORCESTER, Mass. – Director of Athletics Nathan Pine and head volleyball coach Erin Cady have announced the 2014 Holy Cross volleyball schedule. The Crusaders are scheduled to play 27 regular season matches this year including 10 home matches at the Holy Cross Field House.
The Crusaders' begin the season with the Boston College Invitational where they will face Boston College (Aug. 29), Marist (Aug. 29) and Hartford (Aug. 30). The Crusaders' next tournament will take place at Temple. The Crusaders will play Princeton (Sept. 5), Charlotte (Sept. 6) and Temple (Sept. 6).
Following a match played at home against Hartford (Sept. 9), the Crusaders will travel to West Point, N.Y. to compete in the Army Invitational. Holy Cross will play Army (Sept. 13) in a Patriot League match, and then take on Oakland (Sept. 13) and Binghamton (Sept. 14).
The Crusaders will then travel to Lehigh (Sept. 19) followed by a match at Bucknell (Sept. 20). Conference play continues as Holy Cross hosts Colgate (Sept. 26). On Sept. 30, the Crusaders will travel to Brown for a non-conference match. On Oct. 3, Loyola (Md.) will travel to the Holy Cross Field House. The Crusaders will then play host to American (Oct. 4), the 2013 Patriot League champions which made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. A two-day road trip will take Holy Cross to Lafayette (Oct. 10) and Navy (Oct. 11).
The second half of the regular season is marked by four home matches, three of which are conference matches. The first is against Army (Oct. 18). The Crusaders have a few days off and then will host Bucknell (Oct. 24) and Lehigh (Oct. 25). Bryant will travel to Holy Cross on Oct. 29. The team will travel to Colgate (Nov. 1), American (Nov. 7) and Loyola (Nov. 8) for its last away matches for the remainder of the regular season. For the final two matches of the regular season Holy Cross will host Navy (Nov. 14) and Lafayette (Nov. 15).
The Patriot League Tournament will take place on Nov. 22-23, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the tournament.
Last season, the Crusaders finished 7-21 overall and 2-14 in conference play. The team will have six seniors returning for the 2014 season.
