BOSTON, Mass. - Senior outside hitter Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) and freshman setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) each had double-doubles, but it was not enough as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Northeastern, 3-0, by scores of 30-20, 30-26 and 30-22, in the Boston College/Northeastern Challenge, on Friday night on Northeastern's Solomon Court. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-3 overall, while the Huskies improve to 3-4.
Strawson recorded 12 kills and 17 digs to lead Holy Cross in both categories as she registered her second double-double of the season. O'Donnell had 35 assists and 10 digs to earn her first collegiate double-double. Junior libero Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) and senior Katie Fitzpatrick (Queensbury, N.Y.) also each had double digit digs with 14 and 10 respectively. Sophomore outside hitter Liz Auger (Barnstable, Mass.) had a solid offensive match with 10 kills.
The Huskies were led by Caitlin Tittl's 12 kills and Lauren DeTurk's 10 kills and 10 digs.
The Crusaders will conclude play in the Boston College/Northeastern Challenge on Saturday, September 1, when they face New Hampshire at noon and Sacred Heart at 4:00 p.m. on Solomon Court.
