Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to St. John's, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Crusader Classic at the Hart Center. The Crusaders drop to 0-2 on the season, while the Red Storm improve to 4-0. St. John's won by scores of 30-18, 30-19, 30-20. In the first match of the day Binghamton defeated Siena, 3-2. Two more matches remain in the Crusader Classic with St. John's taking on Binghamton at 4:00 p.m., and Holy Cross hosting Siena at 7:00 p.m.
Sophomore Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) led the Holy Cross attack with 10 kills, while senior Caitlin O'Callaghan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) each tallied six kills. Junior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) had a career high 23 assists.
Shameka Mitchell led the way for St. John's with 17 kills and Anicia Wood added seven kills. The Red Storm used their depth at setter as Casie Brooks registered 25 assists and Lisa Tedder tallied 13 assists.
