WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Buffalo, 3-0, by scores of 30-16, 30-27 and 30-21, at the Crusader Classic at the Hart Center. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-6 overall, while the Bulls improve to 8-2 overall. Earlier, Rhode Island defeated Army, 3-1. The Crusader Classic concluded with Buffalo defeating Army, 3-0.
Junior Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) led the Holy Cross offense with 13 kills, while she also chipped in nine digs. Senior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) dished out 26 assists, while senior libero Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) led the team in digs with 11.
The Bulls were led by Jenna Mape's 11 kills and Brandie Clark's 36 assists.
Strawson, Elizabeth Lazzari (Army), Kelsey Lueders (Buffalo), Clark (Buffalo), Inga Schlecht (Rhode Island) and Caitlyn Welsh (Rhode Island) were all named to the all-tournament team.
The Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, September 13, when they hit the road to take on Providence at 7:00 p.m.
