KINGSTON, R.I. - Junior co-captain Samantha Surface (Fresno, Calif.) recorded 13 kills and sophomore Rebecca DeSanti (Hampden, Mass.) had a career-best 10 kills, but it was not enough as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Rhode Island, 3-1, by scores of 25-10, 25-15, 22-25 and 25-15, on Wednesday. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-9 overall, while the Rams improve to 6-6.

Sophomore libero Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) recorded double-digit digs for the eighth straight match with 14 digs, while junior Liz Campbell (Mineola, N.Y.) had 11 digs. Sophomore setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had 27 assists.

The Rams were led by Lauren McIntosh's 14 kills and Caitlyn Welsh's 13 kills. Lindsay Lytle had 40 assists.

The Crusaders return to action when they compete at the Northeastern Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they play Boston College at 4:00 p.m. and Northeastern at 7:00 p.m.
