Holy Cross Volleyball Falls To Lafayette, 3-0

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Lafayette, 3-0, by scores of 30-18, 30-22 and 30-26, Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-15 overall (1-6 Patriot League), while the Leopards improve to 12-6 overall (5-2 Patriot League). Junior Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) led the Crusaders with 16 kills and 14 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. Her 16 kills moves her to third all-time at Holy Cross in career kills with 840.

Senior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) also recorded double-digit digs with 13, while senior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) had 28 assists.

Lafayette was led by Veronica Canto-Ponce's 17 kills and Megan Carter's 40 assists. Kari Horn was outstanding on defense with 23 digs, while Michaela Donohue was solid with 14 digs.

The Crusaders return to the court on Friday, October 20, when they hit the road to face Colgate in Patriot League action at 7:00 p.m.
