ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Sophomore setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded her sixth double-double of the season and the ninth of her career, but it was not enough as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Navy, 3-1, on Friday night in Patriot League action, by scores of 25-23, 25-18, 24-26 and 25-14. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-19 overall (0-8 Patriot League), while the Midshipmen improve to 14-9 overall (3-5 Patriot League).
O'Donnell earned the double-double with 32 assists and 11 digs. Junior Liz Auger (Barnstable, Mass.) led the Crusaders in kills with 11, while junior co-captain Samantha Surface (Fresno, Calif.) had 10 kills. Freshman Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) added eight kills and sophomore Rebecca DeSanti (Hampden, Mass.) had six kills. Sophomore libero Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) led the team with 15 digs.
Navy was led by Jessie Sims who had a double-double with 15 kills and 16 digs and Abbie Merkl who also had a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Marissa Watson recorded 46 assists and Alexa Gibbs had 12 kills.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Oct. 25, when they travel to Washington, D.C., to play Patriot League opponent American at 2:00 p.m.
