Worcester, Mass. - In their season opener the Crusaders lost to Youngstown State in three games Friday night (21-30, 27-30, 29-30) during the Crusader Classic at the Hart Center.
Michelle Leahy (Andover, Mass.) contributed 15 assists from the setter position, one service ace and four digs.
Senior Lauren Liesman (Winchester, Calif.) tallied a game high 14 digs.
Offensively, Youngstown State was lead by Melanie Pounders with 12 kills, while Angie Pasquinelli set 12 assists. On the defensive end, Sarah Wellner and Jessica Fraley recorded 12 digs a piece.
The Crusaders falls to 0-1, while the Penguins grabbed their first win of the 2004 season.
The Crusaders continue in action on Saturday, Sept. 4, on day two of the Crusade Classic when they take on Siena College at 1 p.m., with a second match against Radford at 7 p.m. Youngstown State will go up against Radford in the first game of the day at 10 a.m. Siena College will compete against Youngstown State at 4 p.m.
