WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross senior volleyball player Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) has been selected to the 2007 Patriot League Volleyball All-League second team, it was announced today. This is the third straight year that Strawson has earned this honor.
Strawson yet again had another outstanding season as her 4.00 kills per game led the team and ranked fourth all-time at Holy Cross for a single-season, while her 316 kills ranked fifth all-time. She finished fourth in the Patriot League in kills per game, while her 2.95 digs per game were ninth in the conference. Strawson recorded double-digit kills in 19 matches with 10 double-doubles. She was also named to the Boston College/Northeastern Challenge and Crusader Classic all-tournament teams.
For her career, Strawson holds the Holy Cross all-time record for career kills with 1,246, while her 814 career digs are sixth all-time in school history. She was named to eight straight regular season all-tournament teams. In 2006, her 4.17 kills per game tied a school record and were second in the Patriot League, while her 363 kills were the second most in school history, surpassing her 351 kills in 2005.
A two-time Patriot League Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year, Strawson was recently named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I first team for the second consecutive year as she has a 3.93 grade point average with a major in Biology. She earned a spot on the second team in 2005. By earning Academic All-District first team honors, Strawson will now be on the ballot for Academic All-America honors. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America team will be announced on Nov. 28. Strawson has earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in every season.
