Cross Country Runners Take Part In UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Eight members of the Holy Cross cross country teams ran in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon, with the men's team finishing 24th of 39 teams. Sophomore Matt Muilenburg (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) took the top spot for the men's team, finishing at 27:20. Freshman Allison Longo (Havertown, Pa.) was one of just two runners who competed from the women's team, crossing the finish line with a time of 20:57.

Other top finishers on the men's side included junior Sean Hagan (Reading, Mass.), who finished with a time of 28 minutes flat, and freshman James Harrison (Bronxville, N.Y.), who finished just two seconds behind Hagan with a time of 28:02. Freshmen Jack Curran (Orchard Park, N.Y.), Joseph Wihbey (Litchfield, Conn.) and Brendan Butler (Weymouth, Mass.) rounded out the field of men's Holy Cross runners, recording times of 28:22, 28:25 and 28:34, respectively.

For the women's team, freshman Cassie Gildea (Milford, Conn.) crossed the finish line with a time of 21:26. MIT took home the women's team title with the first four overall finishers and just 17 total points. On the men's side, MIT also won the team title with a total of 63 points.

The men's and women's cross country teams will return to action on Firday, Sept. 28, at the Paul Short Invitational at 10:00 a.m.
