Women's Cross Country Set For Patriot League Championship

- The Holy Cross women's cross country team will return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Patriot League Championship at 11:00 a.m. This year the race will be hosted by Colgate.
- Last season, the Crusaders finished in eighth place. Graduate Paige Sutherland led the team with a 12th place finish and time of 22:46.70. Junior Amanda Waldron (Walpole, Mass.) took home the next best time for Holy Cross, finishing 29th at 23:31.70.
- Holy Cross ran at the Colgate course in the first meet of the season earlier this year. Junior Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.) led the way for the Crusaders, taking 14th place with a time of 16:49.0. Waldron was the second Holy Cross runner to cross the finish line, taking 21st at 17:00.0.
- The Crusaders are coming off a 16th place finish at the New England Championship. Hughes was named Patriot League Runner of the Week (Oct. 1-7) for her 27th place finish out of 251 runners with a time of 18:01.28. This is the first time Hughes has won the Runner of the Week award and second time she has been recognized by the league, winning Rookie of the Week for her performance at the 2010 New England Championship. The top Holy Cross freshman finisher was Caroline Carley (Barrington, Ill.) who was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week (Oct. 1-7) for the first time in her career with a time of 18:55.11. It's the first time any Crusaders have been recognized by the league since graduate Sutherland earned Runner of the Week honors last season for her performance in the New England Championship.
