WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's cross country team was selected to finish in ninth place in the 2013 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors. Two-time defending champion Navy was unanimously selected to finish first with 162 points and 18 first place votes. Bucknell finished second with 144 points and two first place votes, as coaches and sports information directors were not permitted to vote for their own team. Army edged out league newcomer Boston University for third place with 117 points while the Terriers took fourth with 116 points. Lehigh (101), Loyola (Md.) (76), Colgate (70), Lafayette (44), Holy Cross (42) and American (28) rounded out the preseason poll.
The Crusaders are set to begin the 2013 season on Saturday, Aug. 31, at New Hampshire with Providence. The race is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
