BOSTON, Mass – The women's cross country team finished 10th of 43 teams on Saturday afternoon at the New England Championship at Franklin Park in Boston. Sophomore Caroline Carley (Barrington, Ill.) led the Crusaders across the finish line, taking 32nd place of 283 runners in the women's varsity race with a time of 18:24.
Seniors Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.) and Sandra van den Heuvel (Nashua, N.H.) finished behind Carley in 59th and 63rd with times of 18:43 and 18:46, respectively. Freshman Mary Welsh (Manhasset, N.Y.) finished 82nd (18:56) and senior Amanda Waldon (Walpole, Mass.) rounded out the top-five finishers for the Crusaders, taking 94th with a time of 19:04.
In the women's sub-varsity race, freshman Caroline Carr (Ridgefield, Conn.) led the Crusaders with a 20th place finish and time of 19:23. Fellow classmate Kara McCormack (Bolton, Mass.) crossed the finish line at 19:52 (50th) while sophomore Katie Holdridge (Preston, Conn.) finished at 19:53 (54th).
The women's cross country team will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Leopard Invitational beginning at 10:00 a.m.
