WORCESTER, Mass. - Patricia Sutton, Kristine Corkum and Amy Archambault combined to score 10 goals as the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team rolled to an 18-7 win over Lafayette on Saturday afternoon in Patriot League play. Holy Cross, which scored 18 goals for the second straight game, has now won three straight and improves to 8-3 overall (4-0 Patriot League), while Lafayette falls to 3-6 (1-3 Patriot League) with its fifth straight loss.

Sutton tallied a game-high four goals, while Corkum and Archambault added three goals each. Carolyn Smirti, Nikki Bolduc and Melissa Conley all added two scores, while Kelly Winslow and Sheila Rom were also in the scoring column for the Crusaders.

Holy Cross opened the contest with seven straight goals in the first twenty minutes of play to take an early 7-0 lead. Sutton scored the first two goals of the game just three minutes apart to start the Crusader scoring barrage.

The Leopards did not get on the board until the 6:25 mark when Kaleigh Mountain took a Madalyn Booth pass and beat Crusader keeper Megan Orr. But Holy Cross bounced right back when Winslow gathered a Sutton pass with 1:52 remaining for an 8-2 Crusader lead. Lafayette scored again just 24 seconds later to cut the lead to six (8-2), but the Crusaders finished the half with goals by Rom and another by Archambault to take a commanding 10-2 lead into the break.

Holy Cross opened the second half with goals by Corkum and Sutton just 46 seconds apart, as the home team took a 12-2 lead with 24:07 on the clock. The Leopards responded, however with three straight goals to cut the Crusader lead to seven (12-5), but Holy Cross would not back down and tacked on four consecutive goals in less than four minutes to get back on top with a comfortable, 16-5 advantage. Bolduc scored two of the Crusaders' four goals during the run.

Kristin Ruminski scored her third goal of the day with 5:40 remaining to pull the visitors within 10 (16-6), but Corkum marched down the field just 90 seconds later to score Holy Cross' 17th goal of the day. Kat Hueglin got into the scoring column with 1:56 left and Conley answered with her second goal of the game with 1:09 left for the final 18-7 score.

Orr was stellar in net and made 11 saves for the Crusaders to record her eighth win of the season. Kushner made nine stops for Lafayette. Holy Cross travels to New Haven, Conn., on Wednesday, April 5 for a 3:00 p.m. non-conference match-up with Yale.
