LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Caitlin Mikel scored the game-winner with 1:01 left in the second half for the Saints as the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team fell to Siena, 11-10, on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-4 overall, while the Saints improve to 3-1 overall. Junior Katie Gardner (Garden City, N.Y.) scored four goals and had three assists for seven points for Holy Cross. Her four goals and seven points were career-best marks.

Junior Ali Baird (Wilbraham, Mass.) had one goal and two assists for three points, while sophomore Meg O'Leary (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored two goals and sophomore Annie Boylan (Andover, Mass.) had one goal and one assist. Junior Megan Fenton (Bridgewater, N.J.) and freshman Kat Sutton (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) each scored one goal, while freshman Caitie Shea (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) earned her first collegiate point with one assist.

Siena was led by Mikel who had three goals and two assists for five points and Lindsey Rosecrans who had three goals and one assist for four points.

With Holy Cross trailing 1-0 in the first half, Gardner scored to tie the game at 1-1, but the Saints responded with another goal to take a 2-1 lead. The Crusaders then answered with two straight goals to move out to a 3-2 advantage with 6:09 remaining in the half. Gardner netted the first goal, while Sutton then scored off a pass by Gardner. The Saints closed out the half with four goals for a 6-3 lead.

Siena increased its lead to 8-3 with two goals in the early part of the second half, but Holy Cross then found the back of the net three straight times to make the score, 8-6. Baird scored off an assist by Shea, Fenton scored off a pass by Baird and O'Leary scored on a free-position shot. With the Saints now leading, 9-6, the Crusaders took a 10-9 advantage with four goals. The goals were scored by Gardner from Boylan, O'Leary from Gardner, Boylan from Gardner and Gardner from Baird. After Siena tied the game at 10-10 with 5:14 left in the half, Mikel scored the unassisted game-winner with just 1:01 remaining.

Sophomore goalie Amy Martin (Bloomfield, Mich.) made 12 saves, while Kristin Concordia stopped five shots to earn the win. The Saints outshot the Crusaders, 31-19, while each team picked up 29 ground balls.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, March 14, when they host Colgate in the Patriot League season-opener for Holy Cross at noon. The game can be seen live on Crusader All-Access.
