Women's Lacrosse Tops Bucknell 16-6

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior midfielder Patricia Sutton (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) scored four goals to break the school's all-time career goals record and lead the women's lacrosse team past Bucknell, 16-6, Saturday in conference action. With the win, Holy Cross remains undefeated in the league and improves to 8-4 overall as Bucknell falls to 4-7 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.

Sutton scored 37 goals so far this season and now owns the school's all-time career goals record scoring 195 goals as a Crusader. The record was set at 194 by Jen Amendola (1998-2001). Earlier this season, Sutton broke the school's all-time career points record. She currently totals 266 career-points.

Nikki Bolduc (Exeter, N.H.) and Kristine Corkum (Ipswich, Mass.) scored three goals and Amy Archambault (West Hartford, Conn.) had two while Cara O'Sullivan (Duxbury, Mass.), Megan Fenton (Bridgewater, N.J.), Kaitlin Nangle (Skaneateles, N.Y.) and Ali Baird (Wilbraham, Mass.) each added one goal. Sutton, Corkum, and Kelly Winslow (Wrentham, Mass.) had assists.

Holy Cross out scored Bucknell, 9-4 in the first half. Junior O'Sullivan started the Crusaders off with a goal just over six minutes into the game. Corkum scored her three goals all in the first half unassisted while Archambualt, Nangle, Baird and Sutton each scored one in the first 20 minutes of the game.

In the second half, Holy Cross out shot Bucknell, 23-7 while the Bison had 13 turnovers to the Crusaders seven. Holy Cross' defense held Bucknell to just two goals as the Crusaders put away seven in the second half. Sutton scored three goals in the second half. Her first goal of the half and second of the game was scored just 1:54 into the half. Sutton's fourth goal was scored with 12:30 left in the game to break the school's all-time career goals record. Bolduc scored two goals while Fenton and Archambault each added one in the last 30 minutes of play.

Senior goalkeeper Megan Orr had eight stops on 19 shots to record the win for Holy Cross.

The Crusaders are back in action as they travel to play a non-conference game vs. Fairfield Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
