WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross field hockey team was edged by No. 18 Albany by a score of 5-3 on Friday night at the Hart Turf Field at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders were the first team on the board as junior Lauren Ineson posted her first goal of the season with a quick shot in the middle of the circle. Albany was quick to respond with a pair of goals from Katie MacCallum and Frederike Helmke just four minutes apart. Senior Maureen Connolly tied the game up for Holy Cross with a low shot in front of the net to make it a 2-2 game before halftime.
The Crusaders took an early lead in the second half as Connolly found the back of the net once again with a high shot at 44:06. The Great Danes would tie it back up as Camryn Dias scored just five minutes later as she found a loose ball in front of the net. Ghislaine Beerkens helped Albany regain control of the lead with two goals late in the second half to give Albany the 5-3 advantage.
