WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Lauren Manis and senior Infiniti Thomas-Waheed combined for 41 points, as the Holy Cross women’s basketball team came up short to Loyola (Md.) 65-58 on Saturday afternoon.

Manis led the Crusaders (10-12, 5-6) with 22 points and 15 rebounds to record her seventh double-double of the season. Thomas-Waheed posted 19 points and nine rebounds while leading Holy Cross with eight field goals made. The Greyhounds (7-15, 5-6) were led by Alexis Gray, who scored 21 points while shooting 5-for-10 from three-point range. Isabella Therien also had a strong game for Loyola with 20 points while shooting 8-for-14 from the field.

The Greyhounds shot 39.7% (23-58) as a team, while Holy Cross posted 36.7% (22-60) from the field. From three-point range, Loyola held the edge with 42.1% (8-19) while holding the Crusaders to 23.5% (4-17). Both teams struggled at the free throw line, as the Greyhounds shot 57.9% (11-19) and Holy Cross hit 52.6% (10-19) of its attempts.


  • Following the game, Manis was selected as the Woman of the Match presented the United States Marines.
  • She posted 22 points with 15 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season, and recorded 20+ points for the ninth time this season.


  • Both teams battled back and forth through the first quarter with the lead changing six times and neither side leading by more than four. Holy Cross entered the second with a 12-10 lead.
  • The Greyhounds responded with a strong second quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 25-11 in the frame to take a 35-23 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
  • After a slow start to the third quarter, Holy Cross pulled within five points but Loyola held onto its lead to take an eight-point advantage into the fourth.
  • The Greyhounds led by as many as 14 in the final frame, but Holy Cross used a 10-1 run to cut the deficit and made it a three-point game with 40 seconds remaining. The Crusaders were unable to find a tying basket, and Loyola held on for the narrow victory.


  • The Greyhounds tallied 11 of their points off turnovers, while Holy Cross posted seven.
  • Loyola also added 10 points on the fast break, and held the Crusaders to just three.
  • Holy Cross held the edge in rebounding, 45-35.


  • Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 7, as the Crusaders head to Navy for a 7:00 p.m. game.
