ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Sophomore Lauren Manis posted 20 points and a career-high 20 rebounds, but it was not enough as the Holy Cross women’s basketball team fell to Navy 62-54 on Wednesday night.

Manis shot 7-for-8 from the free throw line and 6-for-14 from the field as she led the Crusaders (10-13, 5-7) with 20 points and 20 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season. Senior Infiniti Thomas-Waheed finished the game with nine points and six rebounds with a pair of assists. Senior Amy Hasenauer posted seven points with five rebounds and three blocks. The Midshipmen (19-4, 9-3) were led by Bianca Roach, who posted 15 points with three assists and two steals. Taylor Dunham (13), Hannah Fenske (12) and Laureal Jaunich (10) also scored in double figures.

Navy shot 35.4% (23-65) from the field, while Holy Cross shot 31.6% (18-57). The Crusaders posted 46.7% (7-15) from behind the arc while holding the Midshipmen to 35.0% (7-20). Holy Cross made 78.6% (11-14) of its free throws, while Navy shot 40.9% (9-22).


  • Following the game, Manis was selected as the Woman of the Match presented the United States Marines.
  • She posted 20 points with a career-high 20 rebounds while shooting 7-for-8 from the free throw line.


  • Holy Cross held a narrow lead midway through the first quarter, but Navy scored the last two baskets of the quarter to take a 13-10 lead into the second.
  • The Midshipmen maintained their lead throughout the majority of the second quarter. The Crusaders managed to hold Navy to no more than a five-point lead, and headed into halftime down by three, 23-20.
  • Navy put together a strong third period, posting a 17-2 run en route to outscoring Holy Cross 22-14 in the frame.
  • The Crusaders responded in the fourth quarter and cut the Mids’ lead to four, but could get no closer as Navy held on for the 62-54 victory.


  • Manis tied the school record for rebounds in a game with 20, making her the first player to reach the mark since Amy O’Brien recorded 20 against Lafayette on Feb. 15, 1998.
  • Navy posted 17 points off turnovers while holding Holy Cross to nine.
  • The Midshipmen also outscored the Crusaders on the fast break, 12-0.
  • Holy Cross committed 17 turnovers while Navy made nine.


  • Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 10, as the Crusaders return home to take on Boston University at 1:05 p.m.
