WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men’s hockey team blanked AIC, 2-0, on Thursday night at the Hart Center.
The Crusaders (13-14-7, 12-10-6 AHC) kicked off the scoring in the first period and entered the second period with a 1-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets (11-18-4, 10-13-4 AHC). After a scoreless middle period, Holy Cross struck again nearly midway through the final frame. The Crusaders defended their 2-0 lead, including a three-minute kill of a six-on-five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1-0 HC (1st, 4:17, EV): From the corner, Scott Pooley passed across the zone to Will Brophy on the far point. Borphy sent the puck into the slot that deflected off of AIC’s goaltender Stafano Durante and to Michael Laffin in the slot. Laffin grabbed the puck and stickhandled to beat Durante and sent in a backhand.
2-0 HC (3rd, 8:41, EV): At the point, Peter Crinella fed T.J. Moore in the slot. Moore turned on the puck and sent a pass across the slot and to Johnny Coughlin on the back door. Coughlin caught Durante out of position and fired a wrist shot into the net.
Paul Berrafato made 31 saves for his fifth shutout of the season. Berrafato now owns the single-season shutout record at Holy Cross.
