Men's Hockey Defeated By Robert Morris, 5-1
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men’s hockey team was defeated by Robert Morris, 5-1, in the second game of the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals at the Hart Center.
The Colonials (17-19-3) started the scoring midway into the opening period and held a 1-0 advantage going into the middle frame. Despite 16 second period shots from the Crusaders (13-16-7), Holy Cross was unable to convert. Robert Morris continued on to score two more goals in the second.
Holy Cross opened the third period with a goal from T.J. Moore. Robert Morris added to their lead, 4-1, and Holy Cross played nearly four minutes six-on-five but could not breakthrough Robert Morris’ Francis Marotte.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1-0 RMU (1st, 7:08, EV): On a rush, Paul Berrafato made the initial save on Luke Lynch but Matthew Graham was trailing the play and quickly shot the loose puck into the net.
2-0 RMU (2nd, 4:57, EV): On a two-on-one, Timmy Moore scored on the far post off of a pass from Brady Ferguson.
3-0 RMU (2nd, 19:46, PP): With the puck coming from the point to Lynch in the corner, Lynch chipped the puck to the front of the net. Moore connected on the puck to tap it over Berrafato.
3-1 HC (3rd, 0:30, EV): In transition, T.J. Moore skated down the left half-wall and fired a snap shot to the right top corner of the net. Johnny Coughlin and Danny Lopez assisted on the play as they worked to break the puck out of the neutral zone.
4-1 RMU (3rd, 7:10, PP): A flurry in front of Berrafato led to a goal from Luke Lynch.
5-1 RMU (3rd, 17:15, EN): Luke Lynch found a loose puck in the Crusaders defensive zone to score on the empty net.
- Paul Berrafato made 25 saves and finished the season with 1060, which ranks him second all-time at Holy Cross in single season saves.
