  • The Lead: The Holy Cross women’s tennis team took a narrow defeat to Merrimack by a score of 5-4 on Monday afternoon in Middleton, Mass.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Holy Cross earned a point in doubles play, as junior Caroline Kam and senior Meghan Lewis won the No. 3 flight with a score of 8-6.
  • The Crusaders started off singles play with an 8-0 victory by Kam in the No. 6 match to make the team score 2-2.
  • Junior Jennifer Kary also posted a victory in singles play, winning the No. 5 flight by a score of 8-1.
  • Freshman Katya Martin notched an 8-4 victory in the No. 2 flight to earn the fourth point for the Crusaders.
  • The deciding point came down to the No. 4 flight in singles, as junior Morgan McGuire came up just short 8-6.
