Volleyball Blanked by South Florida
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Holy Cross volleyball team lost to the South Florida Bulls (3-0) on Saturday, Sept. 8 in the last match of the Blackbird Invitational. Sophomore Katie Kerins led the Crusaders with 11 kills and seven digs, hitting a .429. The sophomore outside hitter was also named to the all-tournament team.
The Bulls and Crusaders were in a battle throughout the first set. Holy Cross came back from being down 5-1 to taking the lead 6-5 after two attack errors from South Florida. Later, the match was tied 22-22, but the Bulls were able to take the first set, 25-23, after two kills.
South Florida controlled the remaining two sets of the match and kept Holy Cross under 20 points in each game.
Freshman Regan Wright notched eighth kills with 11 digs. South Florida had nine blocks, while the Crusaders tallied one.
The Crusaders will play UConn in the Dog Pound Challenge on Friday, Sept. 14 at 12:30 p.m.
