WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s soccer team lost to Dartmouth tonight, 3-0, at Linda Johnson Smith Stadium. The loss drops the Crusaders to 4-9-0 on the year and boosts the Big Green to 7-3-1.

The Crusaders controlled a lot of the possession on a night where they just couldn’t convert on any of the chances they created. They opened the game take four of the first five shots, putting three of them on goal. But Dartmouth’s Mariel Gordon was strong in net.

In the 23rd minute, Tracey Mills put the Big Green up when she headed in a cross from teammate Izzy Glennon who was fed a nice ball through Holy Cross’ back line by Bonnie Shea.

The score would remain the same until the 87th minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Lettieri was impressive again in goal for the Crusaders, recording 10 saves on the night, a career-high. But then with three minutes to play, with Holy Cross attempting to push numbers forward, Dartmouth’s Erin Kawakami let one fly from 25 yards out that sunk into the top right corner of the goal, just out of the reach of Lettieri.

The Big Green would add another goal two minutes later off of a corner kick to wrap the game up with the 3-0 lead.

The Crusaders will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 13, when they host American as they begin the homestretch of their season against four conference opponents.

  • Dartmouth outshot Holy Cross, 19-11, and put 14 shots on goal to the Crusaders’ 4.
  • The Crusaders held the advantage in corner kicks, 8-6.
  • Senior Ang Seslija led the Crusaders in both shots, three, and shots on goal, two.
