Patricia Sutton is inher fourth season as an assistant women’s lacrosse coachat Holy Cross in 2014. Sutton is a 2007 graduate of Holy Cross andis the program’s all-time leader in points, goals and drawcontrols.
During her first three seasons as an assistant coach with theCrusaders, Sutton has helped the team to an overall record of25-29, a 10-8 mark in Patriot League regular season contests andtrips to the 2012 and 2013 Patriot League championshipgames.
Before returning to her alma mater, Sutton was an assistant coachfor two seasons at Albany in 2009 and 2010. Sutton assisted withall aspects of the program, including recruiting and monitoringstudent-athletes’ academics. In the 2010 season, the GreatDanes won their first-ever conference regular season title, set theschool’s single-season win record by going 13-3, and wereranked in the IWLCA national poll (No. 19) for the first time inthe program’s Division I history. Albany also ranked secondnationally in scoring, was fourth in scoring margin and was sixthin scoring defense. In Sutton’s first season at Albany, theGreat Danes finished with a winning record for the first time since2000 with nine wins. Prior to her time at Albany, Sutton was thegirls junior varsity head coach at Wayland High School.
Sutton, who was an executive board member of the Holy Cross StudentAthlete Advisory Committee and a senior captain, was named the 2007Crusader of the Year. During her playing career at Holy Cross, asshe set school career records for points (291), goals (215) anddraw controls (171), while placing second all-time in assists (76)and tied for third in caused turnovers (64). She also ranks thirdall-time in the Patriot League in career goals, fourth in careerpoints, fifth in career draw controls, eighth in career assists andninth in career caused turnovers.
During Sutton’s final two seasons, the Crusaders won theirfirst two Patriot League championships and made their first twoNCAA Tournament appearances. At the time of her graduation, Suttonranked 19th all-time in career points and 25th all-time in careergoals in NCAA Division I history. Sutton also holds schoolsingle-season records for points with 75 (2006, 2007) and for drawcontrols with 72 (2006).
Sutton received numerous accolades during her career, includingearning second team All-Northeast Region (2006, 2007), PatriotLeague Tournament MVP (2007), Patriot League Offensive Player ofthe Year (2006), first team All-Patriot League (2005, 2006, 2007),second team All-Patriot League (2004) and Patriot League Rookie ofthe Year (2004) honors.
Sutton, who was a member of the Dean’s List and PatriotLeague Academic Honor Roll, earned her bachelor of arts degree insociology from Holy Cross in 2007. A native of Saratoga Springs,N.Y., Sutton’s sister Kat (Class of 2013) alsoplayed on the Holy Cross women’s lacrosse team.
