The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Northeastern by a score of 2-0 on Sunday night at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Huskies jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of play, as Hannah Lopiccolo found the back of the net with a shot from just outside the box. The Crusaders nearly tied the game in the 26th minute, as sophomore Kelly Crowley had a strong header on goal, but Nathalie Nidetch made the stop for the Huskies. Despite notching three shots on net in the first half, Holy Cross went into halftime down 1-0 to Northeastern.
The Huskies came out of the gate with a quick goal in the second half at the 48 minute mark, as Julianne Ross scored with a header off a corner kick opportunity. Northeastern nearly made it a 3-0 game with a strong high shot from Lopiccolo, but sophomore Caroline Cashion made a leaping save to keep the ball out of the net. The Crusaders managed one shot on goal in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
