Madelyn Ganser Receives Victory Scholarship

Holy Cross Athletics   08-25-2017

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women’s basketball Class of 2017 graduate Madelyn Ganser has been awarded a Victory Scholarship from the Sport Changes Life Foundation, giving her the opportunity to continue her studies and play basketball in Ireland during the 2017-2018 academic year. Ganser and Steph Poland, a 2017 graduate of Colgate both, received the scholarship.

The Sport Changes Life Foundation allows student-athletes to continue their athletic and academic careers by both playing on a collegiate team and studying in a graduate program at an Irish or Northern Irish university. Ganser will be pursuing a graduate degree in International Business at Cork Institute of Technology.

As a senior, Ganser played in all 30 games for the Crusaders while making 26 starts. She ranked second on the team with 140 rebounds and tallied 88 points. This past spring, she was named the recipient of the Holy Cross Varsity Club’s Samantha Vellaccio award, which is given annually to a member of the women’s basketball team who best exemplifies the mission of Holy Cross on and off the court. She was a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, and graduated with a degree in Psychology.

Ganser and Poland were featured on the Patriot League Network to talk about their upcoming opportunity.
