Women's Hockey Comes Up Short at Dartmouth in Exhibition Game

HANOVER, N.H. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team lost 3-2 in overtime to the Dartmouth Big Green in an exhibition game Friday night. Junior Maeve Reilly scored first for the Crusaders assisted by junior Julie Matthias. Junior Danielle Doherty led the Crusaders into overtime with a goal at the end of the third period to tie the game at 2-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Holy Cross outshot Dartmouth 7-3 in the first period, but both teams were unable to find the back of the net until the second period. Freshman goalie Julia Pelletier recorded three saves in the first period.
- Reilly came out and put the Crusaders up 1-0 within the first two minutes of the second period. The Big Green answered with a goal by Christina Rombaut six minutes into the second period. Pelletier tallied 14 saves in the second period for Holy Cross.
- Dartmouth's Cecilia Lopez scored quickly in the third period to put the Big Green up 2-1. Junior Danielle Doherty responded with a goal to tie the game 2-2.
- In overtime, Dartmouth's Lopez found the net for her second goal of the game to give the Big Green the exhibition victory.
The Crusaders will play their first official road game against the University of New Hampshire, Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2:00 p.m.
