Arno Rupp Named Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior forward Arno Rupp has been named the Patriot League Corvias Men’s Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year. This is Rupp’s third Academic honor as he has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team and to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 team in 2016.
Rupp holds a 3.77 grade-point average as an Economics and Mathematics major. He is a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and was an All-Academic selection in 2016. He also received CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 recognition in 2016.
Rupp leads the Crusaders with seven goals and two assists for 16 points in his 2017 campaign. The senior forward has tallied two game-winning goals and two multi-point games, including a five point outing against Colgate on Oct. 25. Rupp’s latest point came when assisting on the game-winning goal against Lehigh on Nov. 4 that clinched a Patriot League Tournament bid for the first time since 2013. Rupp has seen time in all 17 games for Holy Cross in 2017, starting nine.
Rupp was also named to the Academic All-Patriot League team for the second-consecutive year.
To be eligible for the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete, the student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key player in his sport.
