Holy Cross Among National Leaders In Graduation Success Rate

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross’ athletic teams continue to rank among the best in the nation in graduation rates, according to the latest Graduation Success Rate Report which has been released by the NCAA. The Crusaders’ overall Graduation Success Rate of 97 percent for all student-athletes tied for the 14th-best mark in the country out of 351 Division I schools. This marks the 11th straight year in which Holy Cross has posted a Graduation Success Rate of at least 97 percent.

“Holy Cross is in elite company as the 14th highest-performing Division I academic institution in the country,” said Holy Cross Director of Athletics Nathan Pine. “The consistency with which our student-athletes have achieved success in the classroom is an incredible tribute to their hard work and dedication to this most important pursuit. I’m proud that at Holy Cross, our student-athletes strive for excellence in both academics and athletics.”

Holy Cross was one of four Patriot League institutions to rank in the top 20 in the nation in Graduation Success Rate, along with Colgate (98 percent), Loyola (98 percent) and Lafayette (97 percent). Only five other schools from New England earned top 20 rankings, in Dartmouth (99 percent), Harvard (99 percent), Yale (99 percent), Brown (97 percent) and Fairfield (97 percent).

Nineteen of Holy Cross’ athletic teams achieved a perfect 100 percent graduation rate. The Crusader programs to post perfect graduation rates were men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, field hockey, women’s lacrosse, women’s rowing, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, softball, men’s swimming and diving, women’s swimming and diving, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s indoor track and field, men’s outdoor track and field, women’s indoor track and field, women’s outdoor track and field and volleyball.

The data used to calculate the Graduation Success Rate is from the four-class aggregate of entering classes from 2007 through 2010, for which the NCAA has compiled sport-by-sport figures. The average Graduation Success Rate for all NCAA Division I sports stood at 87 percent.
