Following a week off for Christmas, the Holy Cross men’s basketball team returns to the court on Friday, Dec. 29, when it plays host to Colgate in its Patriot League opener at 7:05 p.m. The game can be seen online through the Patriot League Network, and will also air live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.

Holy Cross currently owns an overall record of 3-8 on the season. The Crusaders have lost eight of their last nine games, and are coming off a 71-65 setback at Siena last Friday night.

Freshman guard Caleb Green has led the team by averaging 10.5 points, 2.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game, while hitting 39.5 percent of his three-point field goal attempts. Junior forward Jehyve Floyd is also off to a strong start this year, with averages of 10.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per contest. Junior forward Karl Charles has added 10.1 points, 3.3 assists, 2.0 boards and 1.7 steals per game, while junior guard Patrick Benzan is chipping in with 9.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per contest.

Colgate enters the game with an overall record of 5-6 on the season. The Raiders have won their last two games, including a 103-52 victory over Division III Pittsburgh-Bradford last Friday.

Sophomore forward Will Rayman has led the team by averaging 15.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while hitting 50.0 percent of his three-point field goal. Senior forward Jordan Swopshire (11.8 points per game), freshman guard Jordan Burns (11.7 points per game) and senior guard Sean O’Brien (11.1 points per game) are also scoring in double figures for the Raiders.

After the game with Colgate, the Crusaders will hit the road for a 7:00 p.m. contest at Lafayette on Monday, Jan. 2.
