Seven Crusaders Qualify for New England Championships at Beantown Challenge

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's track and field team competed at the the Beantown Challenge Saturday, Jan. 13. Junior Isabella DiMare led the Crusaders breaking a school record in the 60m hurdles. 

BEANTOWN CHALLENGE HIGHLIGHTS:

  • DiMare broke the school record in the 60m hurdles in the preliminary round (8.76), and then beat her own time in the finals (8.70).  She qualified for the ECACs with her finals time. DiMare later placed third in the 200m with a New England Championship qualifyiing perfornance time of 25.38.  
  • Three Crusaders qualified for the New England Championships: Sophomore Alexandra Curtin placed fourth in the 60m (7.83). Sophomore Allie Smiley placed seventh in the 60m (7.85). Junior Sarah Friess placed sixth in the 60m (7.85). 
  • Smiley and Curtin also finished third and fourth, respectively, in the long jump. Smile jumped 5.53m and Curtin jumped 5.50m. 
  • In the pole vault, senior Jamison Briggs finished fifth and had a season best 3.40m jump. Freshman Christa Jay Moore finished second overall with a 3.55m jump. 
  • In the shot put, freshman Abbie Mokwuah finished seventh and qualified for the New England Championships with a 13.06m throw. She also recorded a personal best in the weight throw (15.91) finishing in fourth and qualifying for the New England Championships. 

UP NEXT:

The Crusaders will compete at the University of New Hampshire on Jan. 20.
