Capen is in his first season as a Volunteer Assistant Coach with the Holy Cross baseball team.
Capen was a standout reliever for Holy Cross for four seasons, finishing his career with the most pitching appearances in school history with 99. He also ranks 10th all-time in career strikeouts with 138 and seventh in saves with five. He held a career record of 14-5 on the mound, including a 7-1 record during his senior year. Capen earned wins in the final game of the Patriot League Championship, and the Crusaders’ win over #25 Nebraska in the NCAA Tournament. He also made an appearance in the first game of the NCAA Tournament against #1 Oregon State. He was signed by the Seattle Mariners in 2017, and joined the team’s Arizona League affiliate in Peoria.
In summer league play, Capen spent two seasons with the Ocean State Waves, and also pitched for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2016. He returned to Ocean State as an assistant/pitching coach in the summer of 2017. Capen also serves as an External Operations Assistant in the Holy Cross Athletics Department, and previously worked as a Business Assistant with the department.
Capen received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Mathematics from Holy Cross in 2017.
