WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross head football coach Bob Chesney has announced the addition of 20 student-athletes to his team’s incoming class for the 2018 season. Along with the 11 players who signed with the Crusaders in December, a total of 31 student-athletes will now be joining the squad in the fall.

“With the addition of these 20 student-athletes, we have put together an excellent class for the fall,” said Chesney. “We will be bringing in a number of talented players in our positions of highest need, and we will be looking for them to compete at a high level as soon as they arrive on campus.”

The 31 student-athletes in the incoming class hail from 14 different states, with 18 players on defense and 13 on offense. The group includes nine defensive backs, five defensive linemen, four wide receivers, four offensive linemen, four linebackers, three running backs, one quarterback and one tight end.

The Crusaders will return nine starters from their 2017 squad which went 4-7 overall and tied for third place in the Patriot League with a 3-3 mark in conference games. Holy Cross opens up the 2018 campaign, its first under Chesney, when it travels to Colgate on Sept. 1.
