Women's Lacrosse to Open 2018 Season at Fairfield

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Crusaders will open the 2018 season at Fairfield for a 3:00 p.m. start time. “We are looking forward to opening the season at Fairfield,” said head coach Amanda Belichick. “They are an athletic and skilled team, so we expect to have our hands full and are excited for the challenge.”

Quick Sticks
•In the 2017 season, the Crusaders increase their win total by four. Holy Cross finished 2017 with an overall record of 7-10.
Kerianne Moran, Julia Maloney, and Jessi Button will serve as captains for the 2018 season, as announced by Belichick.
•The Crusaders’ three top scorers from 2017 graduated, but Holy Cross looks for the younger classes to step up offensively with 28 underclassmen.

•Junior attacker Baker Earl returns as the team’s top scorer. Earl started in 12 games and played in all 17 for the Crusaders to score 15 goals and add four assists.
Maggie Moriarty, a sophomore attacker, returns some offensive power for Holy Cross after recording 15 points in her rookie season.
•Moran, who started in all 17 games last season, returns as a senior midfielder after recording nine goals last season.
•Junior defender Button brings experience and leadership to the defensive core of the team after starting in all 17 games last season, picking up 17 ground balls and causing 11 turnovers.
•Sophomore defender Emma Gill also brings experience after playing in 16 games for the Crusaders. Giill recorded seven points and 15 ground balls in her rookie season.
•Senior goalie Julia Maloney returns after starting all 17 games last season. Maloney recorded a .437 save percentage and posted 146 saves on the season.

•Fourteen fresh faces join the Crusaders for the 2018 season.
Stephanie Petras, Dana Dinardo, Emily DeMaso, Haley Walker, and Julia Gasbarre join the defensive core of the team.
•In the midfield, Catherine Guanci, Mairead Anderson, Sydney Brant, and Izzy Grant join.
•To add some fire power offensively, Shannon Dudeck, Meg Donahue, Emily Culbertson, Meredith Strott, and Lily Sheridan all join on attack.

Scouting Fairfield
•The Stags will also open their 2018 season with the Feb. 10 faceoff.
•In 2017, Fairfield finished with a 12-6 record and a 7-1 mark in the MAAC.
•Last season, the Crusaders and Stags opened the season where Holy Cross edged Fairfield (11-8) in Worcester.
•Two Stags were named to the Pre-Season All-MAAC Team. Attacker Brenna Connolly and defender Erin Mammele received the honor. Connolly finished 2017 with 45 points on 20 goals and 25 assists.
