Masel And Barlok Earn Patriot League Weekly Honors
WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Austin Masel and junior Danny Barlok each earned Patriot League weekly awards, as announced by the conference on Monday. Masel was named the Patriot League Player of the Week, while Barlok earned Pitcher of the Week honors. This is the third weekly honor for Masel in his career, and the first for Barlok.
Masel had a strong week at the plate for Holy Cross, as the Crusaders posted a 4-2 record in six games on the road. In six starts, he batted .375 while posting 10 runs scored with seven runs batted in and four home runs. In Holy Cross’ doubleheader sweep at Charleston Southern on Saturday, Masel hit 5-for-10 while scoring five runs, driving in four runs and hitting two home runs. On the season, Masel leads the Crusaders with a .346 batting average while adding 12 runs, 11 RBIs and four home runs.
Barlok saw action in three appearances on the mound for Holy Cross over the past week. He pitched 6,1 scoreless innings while tossing 11 strikeouts. In the Crusaders’ win over Mercer on Monday, he tossed seven strikeouts while holding the Bears scoreless with no hits in 4.1 innings to earn his first win of the season. Barlok also earned the save in Holy Cross’ first win over Charleston Southern on Saturday, pitching 1 and 1/3 scoreless innings in relief. On the season he leads the Crusaders’ pitching staff with a 1.46 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched with 18 strikeouts.
Holy Cross (5-8) is scheduled to be back in action tomorrow, March 13, as the Crusaders head to Boston College for a single game at 3:00 p.m.
