WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men’s lacrosse team captured its first Patriot League win in a comeback effort in overtime, 10-9, on Saturday.

  • Despite scoring the first goal, Holy Cross (3-8, 1-5 PL) found themselves down 3-1 to Lafayette (3-10, 0-6 PL) to close the opening half. The game remained close as the Crusaders and Leopards scored evenly through the second and third quarters. Holy Cross started the fourth quarter down 7-5 but went on a four goal run to take the lead back. Back-to-back Will Murphy goals tied the game and then sent the Crusaders ahead with 3:52 to play. A late Leopard goal forced overtime, but Holy Cross won the faceoff and Kevin Kodzis scored for the win, 10-9.  


  • Long stick defenseman Will Murphy scored his first two goals of the season.
  • Kevin Kodzis recorded his third-consecutive hat trick.
  • With a goal and two assists, Logan LeBlond added three points in the game.
  • Henry Lilly added a goal, along with two ground balls and two caused turnovers
  • With six saves, Jonathan Tesoro picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Quarter 1 | HC 1 Lafayette 3

  • Drew Babiak scored an unassisted mark at 8:46 to open the game.
  • Lafayette tallied a three-goal run with two goals from Seth Obadia (7:23, 3:55) and Will McCarthy (0:02).

Quarter 2 | HC 4 Lafayette 6

  • Kevin Kodzis posted consecutive goals to tie the game at 3-3. He scored at 13:29 in an unassisted effort and again at 11:37, assisted by Babiak.
  • Lafayette took back the lead at 10:32 from Conor Walters.
  • At 6:47 Justin Lynskey scored to push the game to 4-4.
  • The Leopards rattled off two more goals to close the quarter, from James Roberts and John Natoli.

Quarter 3 | HC 5 Lafayette 7

  • Lafayette’s Natoli scored again, at 10:16.
  • Henry Lilly scored at 10:08 on an unassisted play.

Quarter 4 | HC 9 Lafayette 9

  • Walters added a goal for the Leopards at 12:44.
  • The Crusaders went on a four goal run to take a 9-8 lead with 3:52 to play. Jack McKenna started the scoring, with a goal at 9:51.
  • Logan LeBlond sent in a shot at 6:51.
  • The combination of Murphy and LeBlond rattled two goals off at 6:24 and 3:52.
  • Matt Close scored for the Leopards to even up the score at 9-9 with 1:51 to play.

Overtime | HC 10 Lafayette 9

  • With 2:51 remaining, Kevin Kodzis ripped a shot that served as the game-winner to take the game, 10-9.


  • Holy Cross outshot Lafayette, 43-23.
  • The Crusaders turned the ball over 11 times, while the Leopards had 18 turnovers.
  • Dan O'Connell won 13-22 face offs.
  • Holy Cross caused 13 turnovers and Lafayette caused six.


The Crusaders will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on the Raiders for their final Patriot League road game on April 14 at 2:00 p.m.
