Men's Tennis Falls To Lafayette, 4-1, In Patriot League Tournament

  • The Lead: The Holy Cross men’s tennis team concluded its season on Thursday afternoon, as the Crusaders fell to Lafayette, 4-1, in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Holy Cross notched a point in doubles play, earning victories in two of three matches. Freshman Matthew Slowinski and junior Peter Campito teamed up for a 6-2 victory in the No. 2 match, while sophomore Matthew Murphy and freshman Andrew Vroman were victorious in the No. 3 match, 6-4.
  • Murphy was defeated in the No. 1 flight singles, 6-3 and 6-1.
  • Senior Johnny McAuliffe was edged in the No. 2 singles match, falling in two sets at 6-4 and 6-3.
  • Slowinski took a narrow three-set loss at the No. 3 flight, winning set two at 6-3 but falling by the same score in set one before taking a 6-1 loss in the third.
  • At No. 4 singles, Campito won the first set 6-3, but fell in the next two sets 6-1 and 6-2 to take the loss.
  • Vroman and senior Tom Cimini both had their matches cut short once the decision went final. Both had forced their flights to a deciding third set.
